National Forensic Academy's Investigator Virtual Reality (I-VR)

The NFA I-VR is an interactive online training tool designed to provide crime scene investigation training to State and local forensic practitioners made available through a grant from the National Institute of Justice. The participants works with a virtual instructor to learn how to use the virtual tools, the process, and the skills that are essential to crime scene management and evidence detection. Once the participant completes the virtual lessons, they can use the techniques presented to take on the role of a virtual crime scene investigator - collecting evidence and documenting a virtual crime scene. The class is a great refresher for the seasoned CSI or for new investigators on the job.

Latent Fingerprint Processing Class

This 3-day workshop is designed for police officers, detectives, crime scene investigators, and criminalists who process evidence for latent prints. Inexperienced officers and seasoned investigators alike will expand their abilities using the concepts and methods taught in this class.

This course focuses on the proper order of techniques used to process different types of evidence for latent ridge detail. The sequences of processing techniques taught in this class are in accordance with SWGFAST recommendations and IAI Crime Scene

Certification reference materials.

Students will benefit from various lectures with case examples in combination with several hands-on exercises. The practical exercises will expose students to common chemicals, powders, and forensic light sources used on different evidence surfaces to yield the best results. The last day of the class will focus on documenting developed ridge detail with macro photography.
