October 2002. She was also a member of the IAI.
Tom Fiorenza, Kansas Division IAI Sustaining Member #240 and
former Sergeant-at-Arms of the IAI, died on August 15, 2006. Tom was the
longest serving Sergeant-at-Arms in the history of the IAI, holding that
position from 1967 to 1997. As he completed his last year as
Sergeant-at-Arms, the Board conferred the title of Sergeant-at-Arms
Emeritus on Tom. He was an accomplished trumpet player and could be
counted on to bring his instrument and join in with any musical
entertainment that might occur during the international conferences. Our
condolences to Tom’s family and friends.
Ashley Crooker, the former Secretary/Treasurer of the IAI died
on July 1, 2006. For eleven years Ashley served the association as the
only full time staff person. He helped guide the association into the
modern world of data processing and saw the IAI through a transition
period that resulted in an even more professional forensic science
association. We extend our condolences to his wife, Rosella, during
this sad time.
Frank Kendall, a longtime IAI board member and an innovator in
fingerprint identification died on July 28, 2006. Frank was known for
his aromatic pipe and raspy voice. He made his thoughts and opinions
known and, as a board member, helped guide the association through many
difficult decisions. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him
professionally as well as his wife and IAI member, MaryAnn Kendall. We
extend our condolences to her and his family.
William Thomas Andrews, a sustaining member of the Kansas Division IAI and a
sustaining member of the International Association for Identification,
Forensic Audio Analysis owner and former Wichita State University
Theatre Service [supervisor], died Sunday, Oct. 14,
2001. He received the Olsen award for best article of the year in
the
KDIAI newsletter, "The Prairie Whorlwind."
